discipleship

A disciple is a follower obedient to the teaching of their mentor or teacher.  Our Teacher is Jesus.

We believe that Scripture presents disciples as progressively growing members of the Body of Christ - His Church.

So discipleship is a process through which believers mature and change in submission to the teaching of Christ - His Word.

Consider this text from the Bible known as "The Great Commission," that Jesus delivered to His followers.

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20

Every follower of Christ is by definition His disciple, so we at West Chester Baptist Church

desire to follow Jesus' commission by making disciples.  We feel that discipleship will

best be accomplished in our context through a very simple, yet powerful process:
